Travel Arrangements
Flight bookings and indeed all travel arrangements are your responsibility. However, the following information may be of some help to you when making your plans:
Direct flights are available to Kalamata Airport from Holland and the UK, during May to October on Sundays. The airport is a ten minute drive away from the marina. The current flight prices are around £220 mid season and £300 in high season. Visit Flightline or telephone 'Flightline' on 0800 541541. For direct Sunday flights to Kalamata, phone Mark Warner on 0870 7740120 - ask for Dave and mention Spectre Charters - average cost £190 plus taxes. Flights also available from Cheap Flight, expedia and Travel Republic, departing from London, Birmingham and East Midlands and other locations. Kalamata Airport's code which is KLX.
'Easy Jet' flights from Luton or Gatwick to Athens are available from £80 return if booked well in advance. Visit Easyjets' Website. Cheap flights available to Athens from with http://www.ba.com.
The overall transfer time from Athens Airport to Kalamata is about three hours. Travelling by bus involves a short journey from the airport into Athens and then a coach journey from Athens to Kalamata, allow five hours. The total cost of this coach trip is approximately €20. Taxis are available from Athens directly to Kalamata with a journey time of three hours but at a cost of €80 per person.
What to bring
Qualifications; don’t forget your RYA certificates, If you have the old type it would be a good idea to up date to the one that has your photograph included.

Spending money Approx 180/200 euro is the average per week.
Luggage - holdalls and rucksacks only, as they will need to be able to be packed flat for storage. No suit cases.
Shoes - comfortable footwear that can withstand salt water, Trekking type sandals are ideal, (available from outdoor shops), these can be washed prior to going back on board or you must have sailing shoes for sole use on board and shoes for use ashore.
Clothes - bring about 2/3rds of what you think. Shorts and T shirts are ideal, with a “cover up”, to protect you from the sun. June through to September will be very hot. Mostly, in the evenings you will be going ashore by dinghy, hence a good chance of getting your bottom wet, so nothing too smart! Also bring at least 2 swimming costumes, a beach towel and a hat preferably with the means to attach to your person.
Suntan lotion - bring a factor suitable for your skin type and adequate for sailing in the Mediterranean climate.
Bare Boat Charters Only: You will need to bring your £750 security deposit, or you can transfer on internet banking before you travel, then have the money transferred back at the end of your holiday when you return the yacht with no damage or losses.
